I need to offer a slight disclaimer, I love white jeans...on other people. For some reason I am almost
squeamish about wearing them myself. Maybe it's that small voice in my head that still seems to whisper that light on the bottom is not flattering for those of us with ample enough bottoms already. Or maybe it's because the majority of the white jeans I've tried on are a bit on the thin side and can expose a bit more than their sturdier blue denim cousins.
Needless to say, styling these took some courage but now that it's done, I'm glad I did it.
I want to show you how I achieved three different looks simply by changing the style of top I'm wearing. The shoes, jeans and silver jewelry all stayed the same.
This first blouse is very casual and if I had chosen to wear flat sandals it would have dressed it down even more. The top is Sonoma from Kohls (similar here). It is super comfortable and the tassel detail in front gives it a trendy look and the cap sleeve offers a bit of upper arm coverage which I love. (Plus there is a 15% off coupon at the end of my post.)
I know Spring temperatures are a relative term depending on where you live so I wanted to include a lightweight sweater in the mix. This striped one is from Loft last year but they have quite a few similar ones on sale right now (similar).
And last is this sweetly detailed blouse from Harve' Benard that I found at Burlington Coat factory right after Christmas for $14.99 (similar here at Kohls). It has a cute cut out in the back and the delicate lace details add just the right romantic touch.
Whatever the reason, I seem to reach for my white jeans last and I need to change that. They are so perfect for spring and summer (and all year round now it seems) and offer the perfect counter balance to the warmer weather. I found these white jeans at Kohl's (similar) last year, they have just the right amount of stretch to them to make them both flattering and comfortable. I am learning to wear them with a bit more confidence especially with the little bit of leg lengthening that these cute Bandolino platform sandals (similar) seem to provide.
What about you? Do you love white jeans? Do you have a favorite brand? I'd love to hear your thoughts.
