hello normal life

Hello Monday and hello normal life.  I am finally feeling a natural rhythm to my days after the busy start to our summer.  Not only are our vacations over but this morning I sent my husband off to work while the sun was rising instead of setting.  After 10 years of night work, my husband accepted a day shift with his company.

I am a little excited and a little nervous as to what this will mean to our day to day life.  On the one hand we will no longer have to try and keep the little's quiet while pop-pop sleeps during the day but on the other hand my nights (and television viewing) are no longer my own.  I'll keep you posted with how that goes.

I had such a good, productive weekend.  I did a little rearranging...again and a good bit of organizing through out the house.  My husband says I'm not happy unless I'm moving something from one spot to another.  For someone who claims not to like change, I have to admit he's right.  I do think I could have been a professional organizer.  It's the keeping the order that I have a problem with.

I am on my way out the door to a craft show at a local Women's Luncheon.  With all the busyness around here I don't feel as prepared as I would like to be.  I did a good bit of gathering of pretty handmade things and am hoping it all comes together when I set it up this morning.

I hope you all had a fun and productive weekend as well.

xo, Patty

  1. Big change with your husband's schedule and I think you are right, that will take a little adjustment. My husband offices out of our home! That took adjustment too but it's all good.

Hope you have fun today. :)

  3. Good luck with the craft show and I hope you are having a fabulous time. You can always watch your shows online if you miss them. We no longer have a way to "tape" shows for later since we don't have cable or satellite. We can watch TV using an antenna, or online using Hulu Plus, and Netflix. So for less than 20 bucks a month we can watch most of what we would like to. I do miss a little bit of Food Network. I used to like watching Ree Drummon's show. Plus I miss having a live news channel to check in on. But other than that, I'm happy, especially with not having a satellite bill.

  4. hi Patty, You are a talented young lady, I am sure you have plenty of pretty things that will sell. I wish your husband luck adjusting to his new life on day shift. I worked nights for 13 years.... it was different being on days. Take time for each other. Always. Blessings to all, xoxo,Susie

  5. A change in schedule for your husband will certainly mean a change for you! But you may find that you come to enjoy the more normal hours and the ability to go out to dinner at night. Good luck with the craft show!

  6. I hear ya about the changes in your husband's work schedule...my husband was on rotating shifts for many years when we were first married and then when our boys were growing up. He was then on a permanent day shift for...oh, about 10-15 years (I lose track) and now this year, they decided to go back to rotating shifts again. He changes shifts every four months. NOT fun for either of us! He absolutely hated midnights - I don't know how your husband did it for so many years. He will probably be a much happier (and healthier) guy with being on a normal day shift. Hope your craft show went well!

  8. Well, it sounds like you have a little bit of adjustment time ahead of you before you get a good routine. The two of you will be dancing through your days together with ease before you know it!
I hope your luncheon and Craft fair went well.
I'm sure all your treasures were a hit!
