hello saturday

Hello Saturday with your gloomy skies and tease of rain.  Oh, how I wish the clouds would open for a bit and drench the parched California soil.  While much of the nation is knee deep in snow, we are still looking at a week in the high 70's and low 80's.  As wonderful as those temps sound, this is January and we have not had a single drop of rain in months. That certainly spells for one long hot, dry year to come.  Send us some winter!

You'd think all that sunshine would have me outside playing in the dirt but that hasn't been the case.  I have happily been holed up in the house all week.  Along with the time I spent in my studio, I also did a bit of cleaning and refreshing of things around the cottage.

And I finally took a minute to take a few pictures of these colorful goodies I was gifted with for Christmas.

My friends know me so well.  It seems orange is popping up as an accent more and more around the house.  I just can't help but smile when I pull out something practical and it is pretty as well.  Don't you agree?

It promises to be a quiet weekend around here for the most part.  Other than a few errands and maybe a trip to the nursery, I will be hanging out at home.  What about you?  Anything fun planned around your parts?

xo, Patty

btw...I had a couple of extra love heart banner kits and so I listed them for $10.00 (includes shipping) in my Etsy shop.

  1. I stepped outside to go feed the hens, and felt that bit of mist in the air. But what we need is a torrential downpour!!!! Oh please, Mother Nature....let it rain!
Pretty quiet here too. Greg had a long week. We will just relax around home.

  4. I think it would be fun to browse through the sewing book! Like you, I'm planning an at home day, with a bit of shoveling thrown into the mix. I hope you get rain soon. It must be parched in your area.

  5. This weekend is rather quiet. The wind is howling and the snow is blowing once again. We went to town for a few things, but other than that I am fluffing our nest and cooking good warm belly satisfying dinners ;-)

  6. It's been a cold, snowy weekend here, but it's beautiful!! I got the Gooseberry Patch Homestyle favorites cookbook for Christmas, and the recipes are down -home delicious!! I'm actually making the overnight French toast bake tonight :). I like your pops of orange in the house... My color-pop lately has been robin's egg blue and mainly in the kitchen!

  8. It is bitter cold here with more snow again today but I don't mind. We are warm in our home and it is just so pretty outside. Spring will be here before long and then the hot summer. I even picked up a few seed packets yesterday.

Your gifts are sweet. Always a treat stopping by to visit with you!

  9. Wish we could share some of our winter with you! I arrived home today (after a week in Florida) to cold, cold temps in NEOhio, and a snowy, snowy day. Looking forward to doing a little "nesting" this week to get things back on track around here. Temps are supposed to dive lower still, so it will be a good week for nesting, and warming things up via homecooked meals and BAKING! Blessings to you Patty!

  13. I wish I could send you some winter! We've had nothing but snow and frigid temps here in northern IL. In fact, everything (schools, businesses) are already closed for Monday and Tuesday due to the cold...wind chills of up to -45! Are you sure you want some of that?!
